Wordpress 2.0.5 (Ronan) Released
October 28th, 2006 by Jason
Hi blogging folks! Wordpress 2.0.5 (a.k.a. Ronan) is out and is available for immediate download. This release comes with 50 or so bug fixes.
Would I upgrade from version 2.0.4? Probably no. [Update: Oh well, I might consider upgrading. Thanks Brian. :)] I’ll wait for the next major release.

The two biggest reasons to upgrade as I see it are:
1. There are, again, major security fixes that are not emphasized in the official release;
2. If you started your blog with version 2.0 or newer, you’re missing a DB index on the post table and that will slow down your site.
I’ve provided more detail in a top 5 list on my site: http://www.thecodecave.com/article269
Please help convince your friends and everyone on your blog roll to upgrade, it really is important.
Oh and “Why is it called Ronan?” you ask… Well, it’s named after the very first WordPress Baby! Ryan Boren (WP Big Wig) is Ronan’s proud father. Pictures are available here:

Thanks Brian. Nice list. Plus, now I know where “Ronan” came from.
LOL - Good show Jason!
Hey I love that PodCast feature! It’s Geekalicious!
How’d ya do it?
Hey Brian, thanks!
As for the podcast, I did it via a free RSS text-to-speech service coupled with a Wordpress plugin.
The wordpress blog is my favorite. After revewing several different blog types, Wordpress is hands down the best!
