New Google Webmaster Tools

Google has added a few new features in to its webmaster tools.

The new features include:

1) Googlebot activity report

It shows you the following:

  • Number of pages Googlebot has crawled your site per day
  • Number of kilobytes of data Googlebot has downloaded per day
  • Average time it took for Googlebot to download pages.

Google Now Indexes URLs Containing “&id=” Parameter

It’s now official. Google search indexing algorithm has been updated to index URLs containing the “&id” parameter.

Well, does this mean you should ignore using friendly URLs or permalinks?

Redirect Affiliate Links to Increase Click-Through Rate

If you are using regular affiliate links to promote an affiliate program, chances are you are missing out on traffic and commissions. You might want to use redirection links instead.

Here’s how a direct affiliate link and a redirection link look like:

Direct affiliate link: http://www.example.com?id=123 (where 123 is your affiliate ID)
Redirection link: http://www.yoursite.com/product.html

Google has just unveiled the Google Co-op Custom Search Engine. Well, Custom Search Engine allows you to:

Create a highly specialized Custom Search Engine that reflects your knowledge and interests. Place it on your website and, using our AdSense for Search program, make money from the resulting traffic.

With Google Custom Search Engine, you can restrict sites that appear in your search results or simply give your chosen sites a higher search rank or priority. You can even later add sites for inclusion using Google Marker. Google will give you a piece of code for a search box for you to embed in your site or blog. You can also customize the presentation and functionality of the search engine. Offline Website Promotion Using Namecards

Why stop at online marketing? Offline marketing is as relevant for an online business as in a brick-and-mortar business.

I was at an Internet marketing seminar recently and I had wished I had been more prepared for the networking sessions. I realized I didn’t have the right namecards with me. I didn’t have a namecard specific to my online presence.
