Redirect Affiliate Links to Increase Click-Through Rate

October 27th, 2006 by Jason No comments »

If you are using regular affiliate links to promote an affiliate program, chances are you are missing out on traffic and commissions. You might want to use redirection links instead.

Here’s how a direct affiliate link and a redirection link look like:

Direct affiliate link: http://www.example.com?id=123 (where 123 is your affiliate ID)
Redirection link: http://www.yoursite.com/product.html

Notice that the redirection link appears to be like a regular static page on your site. » Read more: Redirect Affiliate Links to Increase Click-Through Rate

Create a Google Custom Search Engine and Connect to AdSense

October 26th, 2006 by Jason 3 comments »

Google has just unveiled the Google Co-op Custom Search Engine. Well, Custom Search Engine allows you to:

Create a highly specialized Custom Search Engine that reflects your knowledge and interests. Place it on your website and, using our AdSense for Search program, make money from the resulting traffic.

With Google Custom Search Engine, you can restrict sites that appear in your search results or simply give your chosen sites a higher search rank or priority. You can even later add sites for inclusion using Google Marker. Google will give you a piece of code for a search box for you to embed in your site or blog. You can also customize the presentation and functionality of the search engine. Also, you can invite others to co-edit your search engine using the collaboration feature. » Read more: Create a Google Custom Search Engine and Connect to AdSense

Blog More Efficiently with Firefox 2.0?

October 25th, 2006 by Jason No comments »

Finally, Firefox 2.0 Final Release is now officially available for download!

I did a small test against IE7 by loading an existing post for editing inside WordPress admin and this is what I found:

  • Firefox 2.0 consistently outperforms IE7 by 2 to 3 times when loading the Write Post page for editing. (30 seconds vs 1 minute is definitely significant!)
  • IE7 pegs at 100% CPU utilization 5 to 6 times longer than Firefox 2.0 during the page load phase.
  • Firefox 2.0 has a smaller memory footprint than IE7.

Why stop at online marketing? Offline marketing is as relevant for an online business as in a brick-and-mortar business.

I was at an Internet marketing seminar recently and I had wished I had been more prepared for the networking sessions. I realized I didn’t have the right namecards with me. I didn’t have a namecard specific to my online presence.
